Retail & Cafe Blinds Gold Coast — Custom-Made & Installed.
Losing tables every time the wind picks up or the afternoon sun hits? Custom cafe blinds turn an exposed outdoor dining area, alfresco deck or retail shopfront into a space your customers actually want to sit in — screening sun, glare, wind and light rain while keeping your frontage looking sharp. Every blind is measured and made for your premises (not pulled off a shelf), so it fits your opening, runs smoothly through daily trade, and holds up to Gold Coast weather. Measured, manufactured and installed by our own local team.
Protect your space. Keep trading.
Commercial cafe blinds and retail blinds do more than look tidy — they make your outdoor and street-facing areas usable through the whole day. Here's what they do for your business.
Shade & glare control
Cut harsh sun and glare off tables, counters and screens — more comfortable for your customers and easier on your staff all shift.
Weather protection
Screen outdoor dining from wind and light rain so you don't lose a section of seating the moment the weather turns.
Privacy & screening
Define your dining zone and screen street-facing spaces from footpath traffic — without shutting your frontage off completely.
Custom sizing
Measured for your shopfront, patio, deck or alfresco area — including wide spans and awkward commercial openings.
Built for your trade
Suits cafes, restaurants, takeaway shops and retail stores — systems chosen for daily commercial use, not occasional home use.
Usable all day
Roll down for the morning sun, up for the evening breeze — your area works across breakfast, lunch and dinner service.
Professional frontage
A neat, considered finish that lifts your street appeal instead of looking like a temporary fix bolted on out front.
Made for the coast
Materials and hardware selected to handle Gold Coast sun, salt air and humidity — with local warranty support behind them.
One team, four commercial solutions.
This is your hub for commercial blind solutions across cafes, restaurants and retail premises — every one custom measured, made and installed by our own Gold Coast team.
Outdoor Cafe Blinds
Weather protection for outdoor dining, alfresco seating, patios and cafe frontages. Screen wind, sun, glare and light rain so your outdoor area stays open and comfortable for customers.
Retail Blinds
Blinds for shopfronts, display areas, customer zones and staff workspaces. Control glare on stock and screens, add privacy where you need it, and keep a neat street-facing finish.
Commercial Outdoor Blinds
Custom-made outdoor blinds for restaurants, cafes and commercial premises — including track-guided systems and clear or tinted materials, fitted to suit your openings. See our full outdoor blinds range.
Alfresco Dining Blinds
Blinds for covered dining areas, decks, patios and hospitality venues — managing shade over customer seating and supporting indoor-outdoor dining layouts. Also see retractable awnings for overhead shade.
Every seat, every service.
Outdoor seating is some of the most valuable space you have — and the most exposed. Sun moves across it all day, southerlies blow through it, and a passing shower can empty it. Cafe blinds shield your dining area from sun, glare, wind and light weather changes, so those tables keep earning instead of sitting empty.
Because every blind is custom made, wide openings and irregular commercial spaces aren't a problem. Clear materials keep your visibility and street presence intact, while the blinds themselves help separate your dining zone from the footpath and street-facing areas.
Screening an alfresco dining area
Choose how much you see, and how much you screen.
The right material depends on your exposure, your location and how the space is used. Here are the options, and where each one earns its place.
Clear PVC
Keeps your view and street presence fully intact while screening wind and light rain. The go-to for cafes that want protection without closing the space in.
Best for visibilityTinted PVC
The same weather screening as clear PVC, with reduced brightness and a bit more privacy for customers seated close to the footpath.
Privacy + less glareMesh & Sunscreen
Cuts glare and heat while letting air move through — ideal where ventilation matters as much as shade, and you still want to see out.
Glare + airflowBlockout-style
Maximum shade and screening for west-facing frontages or spaces needing full separation from the street at certain times of day.
Strongest shadeCustom colours and finishes are available to suit your premises and branding. We'll walk through the options at your free measure and recommend what suits your exposure, location and how the space is used — including mixing materials across different openings.

Track-guided screening, built for commercial openings.
Retail and cafe blinds are custom made to your openings and run in a guided system, so the blind stays put in a breeze rather than flapping about mid-service. We’ll specify the system that suits your span, exposure and how often it gets used.
How it works
- The blind runs in side tracks or channels, holding the material taut top to bottom
- Stops at any height — open for airflow and views, closed for full screening
- Guided edges keep wind and light rain out far better than a loose-hanging blind
- Custom widths and drops to suit shopfronts, alfresco areas and wide commercial spans
Where they work best
- Outdoor dining & alfresco — enclose a seating area without losing the view
- Shopfronts & street-facing frontage — glare control and privacy on demand
- Covered walkways & waiting areas — shelter for queues and takeaway customers
- Tenant & shared dining spaces — consistent screening across multiple openings
Good to know
- These are screening systems, not sealed enclosures — they shed wind and light rain, not storms
- Best performance comes from covered or semi-covered areas
- Wide spans may be split across multiple blinds — we’ll map this out at your measure
- Also available through our own ZipGlide track system, designed and made on the Gold Coast
Clear, tinted, mesh or blockout — matched to your frontage.
Material choice is the single biggest decision on a cafe or retail blind. It sets how much your customers can see out, how much passers-by can see in, and how much sun and weather you keep off the space.
Clear PVC
Full visibility with wind and light-rain screening — your view, signage and street presence stay intact. The most popular choice for cafes that want protection without feeling closed in.
Tinted PVC
The same weather screening with reduced brightness and a little more privacy — useful for tables close to the footpath, or west-facing frontages that cop the afternoon sun.
Mesh & sunscreen
Cuts glare and heat while letting air move through. Ideal where ventilation matters as much as shade and you still want to see out. Available in a range of openness levels.
Blockout-style
Maximum shade and screening where you need full separation from the street, or strong sun control at certain times of day.
Honest note on clear PVC
- Clear PVC is affected by UV and pollutants over time — it will gradually yellow and stiffen with age
- It can scratch if not cleaned carefully, and may shrink slightly (up to around 3%) over its life
- This is normal for the material, not a fault — regular gentle cleaning gets you the longest life out of it
- If your frontage is heavily exposed, we may recommend mesh or tinted options instead — we’ll tell you straight
Spring, crank or motorised — whatever suits your staff.
In a commercial space the blinds get operated multiple times a day, often by different people. We’ll set yours up during installation and show your team exactly how it runs before we leave.
Spring operated
- Simple and quick to operate — ideal widths around 4m, with a maximum recommended width of 4.9m
- The blind is always under tension, so assist the bottom rail as it moves up and down
- A cost-effective choice for smaller openings and everyday use
Crank operated
- Strong and reliable — no bending down to the bottom rail, which staff appreciate
- Fitted with a ring at the top corner and a detachable handle
- Hook the handle onto the ring, hold with both hands and wind down; reverse to wind up
- Well suited to wider or heavier commercial blinds
Motorised
- Operated by remote, with the motor housed inside the pelmet or blind tube — protected from dirt, dust and water
- The fastest option when you’re opening and closing several blinds each service
- Compatible with smart-home and building automation via a WiFi bridge (can be added at any stage)
- If you lose power, don’t force the blind — call us and we’ll sort it out

The Australian Consumer Law (ACL)
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. Gold Coast Blinds and Shutters will choose the appropriate remedy:
- Replacement of the blinds
- Repair of the blinds
- Refunding the cost of the blinds
- Payment of the reasonable costs of having the blinds repaired
What’s not covered
- Damage from storm, wind or hail, or from leaving blinds down in adverse weather
- Damage from not following the care and maintenance guidance — including using solvent or abrasive cleaners
- Normal material characteristics, such as clear PVC gradually yellowing with UV exposure
- Fair wear and tear, accidental damage, or repairs carried out by anyone other than our team
- Deterioration from salt spray or other corrosive environments beyond normal wear
A few minutes of care, years of service.
Commercial blinds live outside and cop plenty — salt air, dust, the odd spilled drink. The good news is they need very little to keep performing, and most of it can be built into your existing cleaning routine.
Use them regularly
- Blinds perform better when used regularly and not left rolled up for long stretches
- If a blind is used only occasionally, the material may show pressure marks and needs a little time to re-settle
Regular cleaning
- Periodically hose down the exposed extrusions and tracks with clean water at normal tap pressure, and allow to dry
- Use a soft brush or cloth to clean the hardware
- Keep tracks free of debris — leaf litter and grit are the main causes of stiff operation
- Wash powder-coated parts with mild detergent every 6–12 months, more often in salt-exposed locations
Tracks & moving parts
- If the tracks need lubrication, a silicone spray is recommended — used per the supplier’s directions, testing a small inconspicuous area first
- Avoid getting water directly on motors where possible
What to avoid
- Never use abrasive sponges or solvent-type cleaners (turps, kerosene, paint thinners) on componentry or powder-coated surfaces — this will void the warranty
- Don’t roll a blind up while it’s still wet if you can avoid it — let it dry first
- Don’t force a blind that’s sticking — check the track for debris, or book a service
