ZipGlide® is the side-channel outdoor blind we engineer, manufacture and install ourselves — built to take on Gold Coast sun, salt and southerlies. Spans up to 5.5m, no zips on view, smart-home ready, backed by a 5-year warranty.
ZipGlide turns a verandah, alfresco or balcony into a sealed, useable room — without renovation. The fabric tracks inside concealed side channels, so there are no zips, cords or pulleys cluttering the view, and no rattling when the southerly comes through.
Sealed against the elements
Hidden side channels grip the fabric edge so wind, rain, dust, glare and insects can't get through. Your alfresco stays cool in summer and warm in winter — without leaning on the air-con.
A clean, modern view
No exposed zips, ropes, cords or pulleys — just a sleek bottom rail and a colour-matched cassette overhead. The rail is engineered to resist bowing, even at full 5.5m span.

ZipGlide® is the in-house product of Gold Coast Blinds & Shutters — we engineer, manufacture, install and service every system from our workshop in Currumbin Waters. There's no dealer network, no resellers and no middlemen. The team you talk to today is the team that builds your blinds tomorrow.
Verandahs, alfrescos, balconies, pergolas, patios — anywhere you'd like to close off an outdoor area without renovating. ZipGlide is also a great alternative to outdoor shutters in front of windows: it stops the sun ever hitting the glass, which keeps the inside of the home noticeably cooler.
How big can a single ZipGlide blind go?
Up to 5.5m wide and 3.5m tall in a single span. Spring-driven blinds are ideally around 4m wide (max 4.9m). For larger openings we'll run multiple blinds with a divider post — we measure and design this for you on the in-home visit.
Can I leave ZipGlide down in strong wind?
Like all outdoor blinds, ZipGlide is engineered for moderate winds — not storms or cyclonic conditions. We recommend rolling blinds up before storms or extreme winds, and avoid leaving them part-way down in heavy gusts. Our installers will walk you through the storm protocol on the day.
How does the side-channel system work?
Each fabric edge has a fastener welded onto it that locks into the side rail and glides up and down with the blind. That's what gives you a sealed, rattle-free finish with no exposed zips, cords or ropes — and what stops wind, rain, dust and insects getting through the edges.
How do I clean and maintain it?
A quick hose-down at normal tap pressure and a soft brush is usually all it takes. Aluminium can be wiped with a soft cloth and warm soapy water. Don't use solvents (turps, kero, paint thinners) or oil-based sprays — they'll damage the powder coat and void the warranty. Use ZipGlide regularly: blinds left up for long periods can show pressure marks until the fabric resettles.
What about the warranty?
The ZipGlide system is backed by a 5-year warranty. Standard outdoor blinds we install are covered for 2 years. Warranty doesn't cover damage from misuse, lack of maintenance, incorrect installation or extreme weather — but in practice, every warranty call goes straight to our workshop, not a 1300 number.
Can I add a motor to a ZipGlide later?
Best to decide up-front, because the cassette, drive shaft and wiring path differ between drive types. If you're not sure, talk to us — we'll often suggest spec'ing for motorisation now even if you wire it later, so you keep your options open.
How much does it cost?
It depends on size, drive type, fabric and hardware finish — and there's no point quoting blind without measuring. We'll come out, measure, bring fabric and colour samples to compare in your light, and email you a fixed quote within a couple of days.
