Privacy Policy

Gold Coast Blinds & Shutters Pty Ltd (ABN 35 265 994 403) respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how long we keep it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Last updated: 02 September 2026

Information you give us

We collect what you provide directly — usually your name, email address, phone number, the address of the property we’re quoting, and what you’d like done. You give us this when you book a measure and quote, request a quote, buy from our online store, or contact us by phone, email or through the site.

We sometimes collect information from a third party where you’d reasonably expect it — a builder or developer engaging us on your behalf, for example.

Information we collect when you browse

When you use this website we collect information about your visit, whether or not you contact us. We use first-party cookies, similar storage in your browser, and third-party analytics and advertising tools to record:

  • the pages you view, how long you spend on each, and the order you view them in;
  • how many times you have visited, and when you last visited;
  • how you arrived — the search terms you clicked through on, the ad or campaign, the referring website;
  • your general location (from your IP address), your device and browser type;
  • how you move around a page — scrolling, clicks, and mouse movement — captured as anonymised session recordings and heatmaps by Microsoft Clarity;
  • for online orders, the usual transaction and payment details.

We give your browser a random identifier so we can recognise it on later visits. If you go on to book with us, that identifier is linked to your booking, which means the browsing described above becomes part of your customer record and is visible to the person who comes out to measure and quote. It lets them arrive already knowing what you were interested in.

We do not record what you type into forms you don’t submit, and we strip anything after the “?” in a web address before we store it, so details carried in a link are not kept.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • Visitor identifier (gcb_uid) — recognises your browser across visits and links your browsing to your booking. Kept 365 days from your last visit.
  • Advertising identifiers — record which ad or search brought you here, so we can measure our advertising. Kept 30–90 days.
  • Visit context — remembers where the current visit started. Kept 30 minutes of inactivity.
  • Page trail — the pages you viewed this visit, stored in your own browser until you clear it.
  • Google Analytics, Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel — measurement, remarketing and advertising. Retention is set by those providers.
  • Microsoft Clarity — session recordings and heatmaps to improve the site. Retention is set by Microsoft.
  • WooCommerce, Zip and Fat Zebra — cart and payment processing, kept as required for the transaction.

How we use it

  • To answer your enquiry, quote, schedule a visit, manufacture, install and support your order.
  • To give our sales and installation team useful context before they contact or visit you.
  • To measure and improve our website and our advertising.
  • For internal management, training and quality purposes.
  • Where you have opted in, to send you marketing. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share information with service providers who help us run the business — our CRM and scheduling systems, email and SMS providers, payment processors, analytics and advertising platforms (including Google, Microsoft and Meta), and our installers and suppliers where they need it to complete your job. Some of these providers store data overseas.

Otherwise we disclose your information only where you would expect it, where the law requires or authorises it, where it would prevent a serious and imminent threat to someone’s life or health, or where it is reasonably necessary for law enforcement.

How long we keep it

  • Browsing records that never lead to an enquiry: 90 days. If you read the site and never contact us, we delete the record of your visit after 90 days.
  • Browsing records linked to a booking or enquiry: 365 days.
  • Customer records (your contact details, quotes, orders, warranty and service history): for as long as we need them to support your product and to meet our legal, tax and warranty obligations.
